The questions
The 22 questions
Turn JavaScript on to find your business, answer the cards and see your score. The questions themselves:
Get verified, and stay verified
- Is your profile verified? Google may ask for a video. It wants to see where you operate, proof the business is real, and proof you run it, in one continuous recording.
- Do your license or registration and your profile carry the same business name? If you run Local Services Ads, Google screens you for its Verified badge against that license.
- When you edit the profile, do you change one thing at a time? Changing the name, address, phone and category all at once can trigger a re-verification.
Address and service area
- Is your address hidden if customers never visit it, and shown if they do? Google's guidelines say not to show an address where you don't serve customers.
- Is your service area only the cities or zip codes you really drive to? Don't list places you won't go.
- Is the address a place you really work from, not a virtual office or a mailbox? A mailbox address is one of the fastest ways to lose a listing.
Name and category
- Is the profile name exactly your real-world name, as on your van, signs and paperwork? No "24/7", city names or "best near me" added on.
- Is your primary category the one customers search for? The primary category decides most of what you show up for.
- Are your secondary categories only for work you really do? A category you cannot deliver brings the wrong calls and the wrong reviews.
- Is the Services list filled with the jobs you actually do? Plain words customers search for.
Phone and website
- Is the phone a local number that rings you? Not a call center that resells leads.
- Does the profile link to your own website? Ideally a page that matches what the profile is about.
Photos
- Do you have 10 or more real photos: your van, your crew, real jobs? A real before and after says more than any ad.
- Do you add new photos regularly, and never stock photos? Fresh photos keep the profile alive.
Reviews
- Do you ask every happy customer for a review right after the job? Send your review link by text.
- Do you reply to every review, good or bad? Name the job in your reply, so the next reader sees a real business answering.
- Are all your reviews from real customers, none paid for, traded for, or written by you? It breaks Google's rules and can get the profile restricted.
Hours
- Are your hours real, and 24 hours only if someone really answers at 3 AM? A customer who calls at 3 AM and gets voicemail leaves a one-star review.
- Do you set holiday hours before every holiday? Google asks customers to confirm them when you do not.
- Does someone answer the phone during your listed hours? Missed calls send people to the next business on the map.
Keep it alive
- Do you post an update now and then: a real job, a seasonal tip, a new service? A profile with a post from this month looks open for business.
- Do you answer questions in the Q&A, and messages if messaging is on? An unanswered question is answered by a stranger.

Questions owners ask
Is this my Google score?
No. Google does not publish a score. This is your profile measured against the Optymizer checklist: the items Googleโs own guidelines and verification pages ask for, weighted by how much each one tends to matter. A high score here does not promise a ranking; it means the profile has its basics right.
Why did my score start so low?
The starting score counts only what Google shows the public, about eight items. The rest start at zero until you answer them. Most profiles climb fast once the cards are answered.
What does Not sure do?
It counts as a no for the score and shows up on your scorecard as a thing to check. Change it to a yes from the scorecard once you have looked.
Do you keep my answers?
No. Your answers and the listing details stay on this phone. We see nothing unless you send the form at the bottom, and then we keep what you type there and your score.
