Local SEO in Kansas City, Missouri

Local SEO is how a business shows up on the map near the people who call. For a Kansas City business, that means people in Country Club Plaza, Westport and across Jackson County. It starts with your Google Business Profile, the listing that shows on Maps, and a call with Offer.

How people search here

Kansas City is two cities with one name, split by State Line Road, and a customer in Waldo or Brookside is a different search from one in Overland Park or Kansas City, Kansas. On the Missouri side the city also runs north across the Missouri River into the Northland, which behaves almost like a town of its own. The older neighborhoods around the Plaza and Hyde Park have big brick and stone homes with plenty of repair work behind the walls. Your Google Business Profile should say which side of the line you serve, and your local SEO can treat the Northland separately.

Google ranks map results on relevance, distance and popularity (its explanation). For a business that travels to customers in Kansas City, it asks for service areas, not an address:

If you don't serve customers at your business address, remove your address from your Business Profile.

Trades we work with here

How it starts

  1. Step 1: A call with Offer

Your first call is with Offer Ben Saadon, the founder. You talk about your business, your area and what you want more of. No pitch deck.

  2. Step 2: A look at where you stand

We check your Google Business Profile, your website and the searches your customers already use, and show you what we find.

  3. Step 3: A plan in plain words

You get a short list of what we'd do first and why, so you can decide with the full picture before anything starts.

Questions owners ask

Can one profile cover both sides of State Line Road?

Yes, if you really go to customers on both sides. List cities like Overland Park, Olathe and Kansas City, Kansas in your service area alongside the Missouri ones. Check that your license and insurance cover both states for your trade first, and add a separate page for a Kansas suburb only when you have real jobs and photos from it.

Do I need an office in Kansas City to show up on Maps there?

No. A business that goes to its customers can remove its address from its profile and list the areas it serves, such as Crossroads or River Market, instead. What Google doesn't accept is a P.O. box or a mailbox standing in for an office, as its rules for business profiles say.

How do we start if my business is in Kansas City?

With a call with Offer Ben Saadon, the founder. Tell him about your business, whether you cover all of Jackson County or a few places like Brookside, and the work you want more of. He'll tell you honestly what he'd do first, whether or not we work together.

Talk to Offer about Kansas City.

Tell him what's working and what isn't. You'll leave with a clearer picture either way.
