Creating A Business GMB Profile For Local Locksmiths in 7 easy steps

“Google My Business” is a service by Google that helps small businesses with their marketing efforts.

From making sure they show up on the right page when you search for certain keywords, to positively influencing your business ranking in Google Maps, this will help you get closer to your customers. Creating an account is free and easy!

Remember to use your business name as the account name. Use your address and phone number as your personal information, unless you have a P.O. Box or something similar – then use that. If you don’t have a website, there’s nothing wrong with putting in your Facebook page (or other social media page) as your website & linking to it.

After you’ve filled that in, click CREATE ACCOUNT and you’ll get a verification email from Google. Click the link in the verification email and you’re done!

Next, you’ll get taken to the main dashboard. On the left side of the screen, you can select your location. In our case, it’s “California” – and that will show all of your listings for local places. If you want to search by other criteria like Zip Code or City, go to VIEW LOCATIONS and change it from “All” to whatever criteria you’re searching for.

Next, we’ll fill out the main stuff here. You can add a logo…I don’t know about you guys but I’m no graphic designer so I used an online service called Logo Garden and got something quite snazzy in about 2 minutes. Next, we’ll click on the description and get a nice box to start creating our GMB profile.

Let’s start filling out the form with keywords – what do you want people to search for when they’re looking for your locksmith? Go through each question one by one and think “what would I type into the Google search bar if I wanted to find this business?” Then type it in. You can add more than one keyword per text box by using commas in between words. And don’t forget to click SAVE at the bottom!

Now we’re going to fill out the rest of your listing. What’s your business about? Cutts says “Think about who you are, what kind of value do you offer to your customers, and how one might describe that in just a few words”. Remember this is for Google search results – not Yelp or the Yellow Pages! Good luck with coming up with text that will attract potential customers!

When you’re all done filling in your text, it’s time to add your logo. Remember the one we saved earlier? Click on “Edit Business Info” and you’ll be taken back to a screen like this.

Scroll down and click on the LOGO TAB. Next, click “Upload a Logo” and upload your image. It doesn’t get simpler than that! …Lucky for me there was already an existing logo uploaded so I don’t have to deal with this step…

Next, click “Save Changes” and you’re done! You’ll notice your profile is now visible in the drop-down box under your location. Click on it to view the finished product!

Now you’ve got a nice, attractive Google My Business (GMB) profile that will attract potential customers!
